Photo taken during the walk to Alnif
on a transfer day.
We started our tour with visits in Marrakech.
Here are workers in the tanneries.
We ended at the Djemma al Fna.
Here is one end of it, with the Atlas Mountains in the background.
I have only included two Marrakech photos. There are many more Marrakech photos if you follow up earlier-dated tours.
A typical village of the mountains.
Photo taken by the roadside.
Tizi N'Tichka
The road snakes its way over the Atlas Mountains
A village made famous by its use as a set for many films.
A detail outside the walls.
A view of the rooftops
Includes a satellite dish!
Not so much the kasbah, but the nest of a stork.
If they like a place, they return and add more to last year's nest!
All of our hotels were well-equipped and comfortable.
This is the Hotel Saghro.
Walking through the spectacular narrow section.
You do have to share it with uncouth 4wd vehicles.
Walkers emerging from the North end of the narrows
One of the hotels visible inside the gorge
The onward route up the long gorge - soon to have a new roadway
We turned left at this point.
There is a pleasant mule track leading up to a lookout spot where one we had our lunch
We drove around to the Dades Gorge on one of our days.
This is the road leading up to the Dades Gorge;
Some sections are very red in colour
This is not the Dades Gorge, but a spectacular side-gorge.
It has one slight awkward step
- but not a serious obstacle
After a pleasant walk up through it, we walked over a ridge and descended via one of its side-branches.
You can see here how very narrow they are.
Whilst we were in Tinerhir, the country had its heaviest Spring rains for six years.
It caused us more entertainment than problems. This is a ford on the main road to Erfoud some 24hrs after the rains had stopped.
Close-up of flood water
A local bus passes thought the floods.
We heard that another ford along the road was deeper, so we went around by an alternative route.
There was road damage all over the country.
This section was on the Erfoud to Zagora road and was fairly typical.
